Bernie Sanders ran into his Saturday Night Live impersonator Larry David during a TV appearance and joked that he gave him a job.
Appearing next to each other Friday on the Today Show, the two men, who have only met a few times, exchanged jokes. The segment began with host Al Roker introducing Sanders, 78, as the 72-year-old comedian.
“I’m here with Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Larry David!” Roker said of Sanders before the camera panned out to reveal David standing nearby.
Roker pointed out that should Sanders win, David would likely have to do a lot of traveling to play him on the weekly comedy show.
“It’s true, it’s not going to be easy for me!” David said while channeling Sanders.
“It will be great for the country, terrible for me,” he added.
Sanders shot back, “I’m getting you a good job for four years, and you’re complaining!”
The two men are distantly related, and both descend from Polish Jews. When they run into each other, they reportedly address one another as “cousin.”
